ChildBeGone v.1 Released

greg | August 5, 2008

Do children or your younger siblings annoy you? Teach them a lesson with crait’s “ChildBeGone” — to be used in conjunction with roe-ur-boat’s AutoStart PRX.

Combining crait’s homebrew with roe-ur-boat’s plug-in you can prevent unauthorized access to your PSP from prepubescent pests. The only concern, once little Johnny is denied access, ChildBeGone won’t safeguard against a solid wall smash. So it may be wise to hide your device or take it wherever you go.

Smarcyclem v0.33 Released

greg | August 5, 2008

Fisher, Fisher Price y’all… Here is an arcade system that MAME doesn’t support. Originating from developer crait: Smarcyclem — the one and only Smart Cycle Physical Learning Arcade System emulator for your PSP.

Smarcyclem runs at full speed (most of the time) and only one particular game, Letter Creek, has audio issues. Smarcyclem does not require any BIOS file(s) either.

XploRa v1.5: A New Homebrew File Manager

greg | August 4, 2008

A new homebrew file manager for your PlayStation Portable has surfaced — ne0h’s XploRa. Explore and manage the contents of your PSP in a similar fashion to Mediumgauge’s PSP Filer.

Still under active development, XploRa packs an agreeable interface; alas, it lacks certain PSP Filer functionality. So at the same time, check out Mediumgauge’s PSP Filer.

nullDC PSP: SEGA Dreamcast Emulator Clarification

greg | August 2, 2008

drk||Raziel sheds some light on the development of his nullDC PSP port… First and foremost, due to the obvious PSP Fat hardware limitations, nullDC-PSP will only be usable on Slim [and future?] models.

As demonstrated previously the current speed/FPS is very slow. drk||Raziel’s notes: there is no dynarec, no optimizations, and no single MIPS assembly line in the present source. The majority of code is based on the PC version of nullDC. So with that in mind, it will definitely take time to optimize and establish a playable state for nullDC on the PSP’s hardware.

While drk||Raziel believes it is possible to achieve full speed on the PSP, it could very well be a long ass time before we see it. Or maybe drk||Raziel and the other believers will be proven wrong. Are you a believer or a nullDC infidel? Talk amongst yourselves.

JoySens 1.42b Released

greg | July 31, 2008

Welcome again one of my personal favourites — Raphael’s JoySens. Yesterday Raphael released [two] new versions correcting several bugs you likely encountered in JoySens 1.41.

If you’re the Johnny-come-lately type, you should know JoySens enables refined control over the PSP analog nub. Adjust sensitivity, remap D-Pad <-> Analog, fine-tune movement smoothness, and much more… Ensure you familiarize yourself with everything JoySens has to offer via the readme.
